Full Name: Virgil Hawkins
Archetype: Meta Hero
Aliases: Static, Sparky, Sparkplug, Static Shock
Marital Status: Single
Affiliation: Teen Titans, Shadow Cabinet
Thanks to his exposure to the Bang Baby gas, Virgil has gained vast powers over electricity and energy as a whole.
Electromagnetism: Virgil is so attuned to electricity around him that he can sense it all around him. He feels currents and energy all around him, as well as magnetic fields. He is able to magnetize and demagnetize metals
Electromagnetic Fields: Virigl is able to create fields of electromagnetic energy much like the Earth does. By harnessing this power, Virigl is able to create barries and shields able to block, repel, and hold off attacks while in battle.
Mechanokinesis: Even when electronic objects are not plugged in or have now power, Virgil is able to use, or even fix them.
Levitation: By adjusting an items magnetic field, Virgil is able to levitate objects, as well as allow himself to fly on said objects.
Wavelength Tuning: Virgil is able to tap into electrical frequencies, such as police radio, as well as phone lines. This allows him to listen in on conversations, as well as make his own calls.
Electrokinesis: Virgil is one of the most powerful DC beings that is able to control electricity. He can drain electricity out of others and objects, charge others and other objects , and project and control electricity as he sees fit.
Electrical Displays: Virgil is able to create energy based constructs (much the same as Green Lantern constructs but on a vastly diminished scale).
Force Bolts: One of Virgil's most common uses of his powers, he is able to create pockets of energy that he can throw at others. These bolts can pull, push, attract, repel, or even destroy their targets if enough energy is put into them.
Ball Lightning: A large surge of energy. On of Virgil's strongest abilities, this is energy blast is much larger and as such takes up more energy but is far more powerful than his usual blasts.
Electrical Transformation: Through great concentration, Virgil is able to transform himself into a being of pure electrical energy.
Electrical Aura Reading: Virgil is able to read the electrical aura people give off. While many people look the same, there are subtly differences that make everyone unique.
Multilingual: Virgil is fluent in German.
Science: Virgil isn't just about zapping people. He has a great mind for maths and sciences, though he does not have a singular focus in any one subject.
Saucer: A small wedge of metal that is able to expand into the size of a garbage can lid that Virgil uses to transport himself around via flight.
Human: Despite his vast powers, Virgil is 100% human. A gun shot or even a common cold can put him down.
Insulators: Like most things electrical, Virgil has a hard time using his powers on things such as wood or rubber.
The Big Bang may be one of the most widely publicly known events to come out of Dakota City. What is known from this event is that in an attempt to stop a turf war, local law enforcement attempted to use a new chemical to track those involved to be able to grab them later. Sadly, the chemical proved far more harmful than originally anticipated, killing nearly 90% of those it touched. Those it did not killed were mutated, later being known as Bang Babies. Fortunately, the night wasn't a complete and utter disaster, as one shining light came out of it, the birth of the hero known as Static.
Gaining electrical powers from the explosion, Virgil Hawkins adopted the name Static and took to fighting crime against other Bang Babies and criminals, all to protect Dakota City. Coming across numerous baddies, Virgil also found himself encountering many heroes, such as Hardware, Icon, and Rocket. Through meeting them, Virgil also experienced his first few teamups, and also his first full on team membership, with groups like the Shadow Cabinet.
As Virgil grew as a young man, and as a hero, so too did his powers. With his great powers, Virgil eventually found himself abducted by the Dark Side Club, drugged, and forced to compete against other heroes in an arena for entertainment. Proving too strong to control, eventually, was placed against Ravager, but the two worked together to escape. After the two escaped, Virgil applied and gained full membership to the Teen Titans.
"Don't! Don't! Hotstreak, man I swear if you don't stop I'm gonna hav'ta make you!" Virgil called out as he maneuvered his saucer with ease to avoid the countless incoming fireballs that were being lobed at him. Martin had just broken out of his cell in prison and Virgil had been the first to respond to the call to bring him back in. Luckily, Hotstreak was predictable. On the past few occasions he either escaped or was let out, he always returned to place he had been caught to try and burn it down. Virgil knew this and had been waiting at Matin's ex's house. He had given the young woman some fair warning, and had had the time to get the majority of the block to safety before the man with fire powers showed up.
Finding that his ex wasn't around, and that the only person who was was Virgil, Hotstreaks' rage consumed him and he had began to set anything he could see on fire. Virgil had been quick to act and draw away Martin's attention, saving a few buildings from being burnt down. "Martin, man, c'mon. This is the second time since Christmas I've had to bring you back in. This is getting old, I'm getting tired of showing you up" Virgil harped. He knew Martin had a hard time focusing, especially when mad. The easiest way to beat him was just to get him angrier and angrier until he was blinded by rage. This would give the hero an opening to swoop in, knock him out, and bring him in.
The balls of fire Virgil could swing around were caught be simple electrical wall constructs the hero created. The electrical pulses burst into bright light as the fire hit them, Virgils' hands gesturing to wherever the shield was needed at the time. The teens movements were fluid and his control over the electricity that shot from him was almost like a dance. It was a sign of his mastery over his powers, a testament to how focused he was on being a hero, someone who could control this gift they were given.
"Sad you can't hit me, Hotstreak. I'm a glowing ball of light against the night sky! I should be the easiest thing to hit!" His teasing didn't stop. Virgil really didn't want to risk harming his former bully. All he had been doing was deflecting and egging the villain on. One wrong swing of lightning, at the wrong time, it could all connect with Martin's fire and cause damage Virgil wasn't wishing to inflict. His goal was to tire Martin out so he could be taken back without harm. "Just tire out already Martin..I don't wanna hurt you man" Static muttered under his breath.
As his words were muttered, Hotstreaks body began to pulse with a fiery energy. He was going to burst. Acting quickly, Virgil flew over the other and interlocked his fingers before pulling them apart. A net of energy moved with the motions and soon draped an electrical cage-like construct over the villains body. As it did, Hotstreaks fiery energy expelled itself from him. The cage wasn't meant to stop the impending blast, but to lessen it. The downside was the to keep it up, Virgil had to feed it energy constantly. With waves of heat and fire cascading over the teens body, Virgil clenched his teeth to stifle a scream of pain. His energy surged more powerfully as he did however, and soon, he was able to push the cage inwards and push Hotstreak to the ground. The fiery energy subsided and only minor scorch marks lined the buildings. Virgils' suit was intact, however, his favourite coat that often found itself over his suit, was now half the size it was originally, having burnt in the fight.
Lightly panting, Virgil floated down beside the knocked out villain and nudged him with his foot. "I did tell you to stop, Martin...now you owe me a new jacket"
