Full Name: Cassandra 'Cassie' Elizabeth Sandsmark
Codename: Wonder Girl
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Archetype: Meta Hero
Aliases: Cassie, Daughter of Zeus, Donna Prince
Marital Status: Single
Affiliation: Teen Titans
Meta-Human Abilities:
Powers of the Demi-Goddess:
As the daughter of Zeus and the mortal Helena Sandsmark, Cassie is, simply put, a demi-goddess. Despite her original tenure as Wonder Girl being powered by magical artefacts, she has since proven herself worthy of Zeus’ favour and has been granted Amazonian super powers comparable with those of Wonder Woman. As far as Cassandra is aware, her gifts consist of:
Olympian Constitution: Thanks to her Olympian constitution, Cassie is incredibly resilient to blunt force. Her skin is incredibly durable, and she is able to survive in a range of harsh, hostile climates. She is also blessed with a slightly advanced healing factor, wounds closing up much more quickly than those inflicted on humans.
Superhuman Speed: Cassie is capable of pushing her body to super-human speeds, out-matching many heroes unblessed with the speed force. She has been known to reach near supersonic speeds when flying, and is only slightly slower when on the earth-bound.
Superhuman Stamina: As an Olympian demi-goddess, Cassie is able to battle ferociously for long periods of time unless injured. Her body doesn’t build up lactic acid in the same way the human body does, and she seems capable of exerting herself for long periods without suffering any ill effects often linked to mortals.
Superhuman Agility: Cassie’s agility is far greater than most mortals. She finds balance comes to her more naturally and her co-ordination is beyond just heightened.
Superhuman Reflexes: Cassie has incredible reflexes, capable of dodging, parrying and blocking many ‘human’ attacks with ease. She has shown skill enough to begin, like Wonder Woman, to deflect ranged attacks in the form of bullets, arrows etc.
Flight: Much like her mentor, Cassie is possessed of the power of flight. Capable of flying at near supersonic speeds, she has proven herself able to withstand the pressures found in higher altitudes – and remain conscious where the air is thinner. She is not capable, at least as far as she is aware, of space flight.[/ul]
Standard Abilities:
Weapon Mastery: Again, thanks to Amazonian tutelage, Cassie is proficient with a variety of weapons, especially with the sword and lasso. She is so confident in their use that she is capable of combining them seamlessly into her favoured fighting styles – using a combination of weaponry, grapples, quick strikes and superior blocking.
Tactician: While still learning about what it means to be a good tactician, Cassie is already showing natural flair for organising herself and others in combat. She is a natural, and is only gaining more experience through working with the Teen Titans.
Vox Populi: A natural leader, Cassie is often seen as a voice of reason and command of the people she’s around. Obviously there are always those that disagree with her completely, but she often feels she speaks ‘for the group’ in many situations. This has only been furthered following her accepting leadership of the Teen Titans.[/ul]
Paraphernalia:
Amazonian Bracers: Like many of the Amazon warriors, Wonder Girl has been gifted with near indestructible bracers and trained in their use. They are often used to deflect bullets, swords and at times, energy blasts. They are not as strong as Diana’s.
Amazonian Armour: Through working with Wonder Woman and Donna Troy, Cassie has inherited a suit of Amazonian armour. While it is rarely worn, she sees it as an heirloom and mark of honour.
Amazonian Blade: Trained in using a variety of weapons, Cassie’s favoured is the sword. Thus, while she is not often seen using it, she keeps an Amazonian blade in the Titan’s Tower should she need it.
[/ul]
Subject Weaknesses:
Maternal Depowerment: Due to problems with previously gifted demi-gods, Zeus granted Helena Sandsmark the ability to relinquish Cassie of her powers with the touch of her hand should she believe her daughter is misusing them. Should this occur, Cassie would be instantly depowered and returned to her mortal state.
Troubled Child: Cassie had a rather troubled childhood – not necessarily her upbringing, but due to the fact she struggled in schools, wasn’t a fan of ‘rules’ and often acted out. While she is a rather changed girl since becoming a superhero, generally much more trustworthy and sensible, she is sometimes prone to bouts of anger and can struggle containing her emotions. She has also seen much in the way of loss, which has affected her sometimes volatile emotional state, and she has shown herself willing to go to dangerous lengths to aid and save others.
Weight Of The World: Cassie carries the weight of her team on her shoulders and has a teendancy makes their mistakes her own. While she knowsit isn'ta healthy practice, it is one that is hard to shake, and she often is hard on herself for her own and indeed other people's failures.[/ul]

Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Sandsmark is the daughter of Dr. Helena Sandsmark, a world renowned archeologist, and of the Greek God Zeus. Much of her early life was spent lacking a father figure due to the hidden nature of Zeus’ paternity, and thus Helena was forced to bring Cassie up alone. Despite the care her mother invested in her, Cassie was something of a problem child and had a penchant for getting into trouble at school – often fighting those she felt were being unfair and thusly getting herself punished. She was transferred between several schools in her early-to-mid teen years, notably the Holliday School for Girls, Brewer High School, Dennis Peterson High, Gateway City High School and Saint Elias School for Girls.
Eventually it became clear that Cassie was not really meant for what many deemed to be the ‘regular’ education system, and thus started accompanying her mother to work at the Gateway City Museum of Antiquities. She still often caused problems, but seemed to be set on the straight and narrow by a relatively new employee of her mothers: Diana Prince. Unbeknownst to Helena and Cassie at first, Diana was the alter ego of one Wonder Woman, a childhood hero of Cassie’s along with the then Wonder Girl, Donna Troy. However, the more time Cassie spent with Diana, the more obvious her dual identity became. It didn’t take long for the naturally bright Cassie to work out her new friend was a superhero, and she became desperate to aid her in her battles.
It was not until, however, Cassie donned some enchanted artefacts kept within the museum that she finally got her wish. Much to her mother’s dismay, she created a costume to wear and joined Wonder Woman in a fight against two powerful enemies, using the Sandals of Hermes and Gauntlet of Atlas to empower her mortal form. Impressed by her heroic deeds and thoughtless risking of her own life for the preservation of good – Zeus came to her and offered her a ‘boon.’ Asking for superpowers, she was granted the gifts of the Amazons, with the caveat that should her mother believe she was misusing her power, a simple touch could remove her the boon from her, returning her to her mortal form. Despite initially fearing for Cassie’s safety and being unsure of whether to let her continue the path she had started herself upon, Helena soon came to realize that Cassandra’s behavior and general attitude had improved ten-fold since becoming a ‘super-hero’. Thus, she relented and allowed her to become the heroine she wanted to be.
Soon after gaining her powers, it was decided that it was in Cassie’s best interest to train with and be indoctrinated in the Amazon way, and she became the protégé of Artemis of Bana-Mighall. She also got to meet her idol, Donna Troy, who not only granted her the nickname Wonder Girl, but her first ever ‘costume’. As a way of thanks and showing her respect, Cassie began wearing a black wig when ‘heroing’ in order to hide her identity, although this was shortlived.
While training with the Amazon and aiding them where possible, Cassie found herself quickly becoming more wrapped up in the world of the super hero. She joined a team of young superheroes known as Young Justice, partly due to her want to become part of ‘something bigger’ and partly due to her crush on one of their members; Superboy. Along with Arrowette, Secret, and Empress, Wonder Girl represented the second wave of Young Justice members, creating an honest team out of what was originally three sidekicks goofing off and fighting crime as an after thought.
During her tenure with Young Justice, Wonder Girl flourished and became a full-fledged superhero in her own right. She took over leadership of the team when Robin stepped down from the post, all while cultivating a crush on Superboy and close friendship with Secret and Arrowette. It was during this period that Cassie's secret identity was revealed to the public when she was forced to defend her high school against an attack by Wonder Woman's nemesis the Silver Swan who thought that she should be Wonder Girl.
Just as Wonder Girl began settling into her leadership role, the Teen Titans and Young Justice were offered sponsorship by a mysterious corporation called Optitron. While mulling over the pitch, both teams were assaulted by Indigo, a misunderstood android who unwittingly activated a homicidal Superman robot. Donna Troy was killed in the ensuing battle, an incident that left the heroes shattered. Depressed and guilt-ridden over the death of her friend and idol, Cassie contemplated retiring from superheroics.
Unable to be put-down, her indomitable spirit keeping her afloat, she instead found herself persuaded to join a new incarnation of the Teen Titans, reformed from the ashes of Donna's death by Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Starfire. Wonder Girl fought alongside former Young Justice team mates: Superboy, Robin, and Impulse, as well a de-aged Raven and new recruit Speedy. The new team came up against a litany of threats from the original incarnations past, fending off assaults by Deathstroke, Brother Blood, The Fearsome Five, and Dr. Light. She also found herself constantly confronted by the Olympian Ares, who gave her the lasso she currently uses, allowing her to channel her fathers lightening.
While a member of the Titans, Cassie surmised the true identity of her father – Zeus. After assisting Wonder Woman in defeating Hades and restoring order to the Olympian Pantheon, Cassie was granted one wish which she used to force the revelation of her true parentage -- Zeus himself. Zeus and Helena Sandsmark had a dalliance while Zeus was disguised as a human, resulting in the now half-Olympian Cassie.
Cassie also finally began dating Conner Kent, more commonly known as Superboy. They enjoyed a comparatively normal courtship until Lex Luthor activated long-latent mind control of Conner, resulting in Superboy brutally attacking the combined forces of the Teen Titans and the Outsiders. It was Cassie who eventually returned Superboy to sanity, but the incident resulted in his leaving the Titans and therefore his relationship with Cassie. It was Connor who influenced Cassie to change her costume to something similar to his – hence her choosing to wear jeans and a tank top emblazoned with Wonder Woman’s W. Wonder Girl continued to fight alongside the Titans, including venturing to the planet of New Cronus to save the life of a risen Donna Troy, until the Infinite Crisis engulfed the world.
As the final battle with the maniacal Alexander Luthor loomed, Cassie reunited with Conner, followed by the two finally consummating their relationship. Their newfound love was not to last, however, as Superboy died heroically while single-handedly destroying Luthor's universe-generation machine.
After Superboy's death, a depressed and vulnerable Cassie found herself taken in by a Kryptonian resurrection cult in hopes of bringing Superboy back to life. She ultimately saw through the "Cult of Conner" with the help of Ralph Dibny, the Elongated Man and left. However, her feeling of loss and abandonment continued to haunt her, and she was distant from her mother and her friends.
Despite feeling lost and alone, Cassie’s will power and natural affinity for helping those around her kept pulling her back to heroics. Even though she pushed many of her friends away following the death of Connor, she started to re-intergrate with her former team mates, and though she didn't instantly retake her former position as one of the heads of the Teen Titans, she began taking training lessons with Cyborg – the person who initially convinced her to return on a ‘semi-permanent’ basis.
Unable to resist the sensation of being a heroine, semi-permanent quickly became permanent. Donning a new, casual costume, Cassie aided the Teen Titans in defeating the Brotherhood of Evil - and in doing so, declared herself returned to the team. On telling Robin of her decision, she discovered his secret failed attempts to bring back Superboy. In a moment of shared grief, the pair kissed, but as it was fuelled by sadness, it caused a rift between the two and they didn't speak for some time. With her life in disarray, Cassie experienced further confrontations with her mother, though did make a new friend in Kara Kent - feeling that she represented a link to the lost Conner.
Still missing Superboy, Cassie (alongside Tim Drake) attempted to convince Raven to ressurect Conner as she had recently Jericho Wilson back to life. However, Raven claimed that Superboy's soul had already transcended their plane of existence, and thus was unable to do so. Before they could discuss the matter further, Jericho's father Deathstroke led an ambush on the Titans, accompanied by his own team - 'Titans East' - and Cassie was captured. It took assistance from two generations of superheroes to overcome Titans East )made of direct counters to the original Teen Titans), and it gave Cassie a chance to talk to Donna Troy about how much pain she felt over the loss of Connor.
Her emotions were only further compacted at the death of Bart Allen. At his funeral, she promised to avenge his death.
Shortly after, the Amazons went to war with the World of Man. Many friends and family members were placed in in internment camps - punished for Cassie's ties. After a failed attempt to aid them, the Cassie and Kara (whose friends had suffered a similar fate) agreed to bring the U.S. President to Hippolyta in order to stop the war. They found themselves ambushed by a group of Amazons in the process, which caused the President to become mortally wounded. The actions of the Amazons and Wonder Girl's own involvement caused public outcry and hatred against all those who had followed in Wonder Woman's footsteps. Ultimately, Cassie declared that despite her training and past, she was not an Amazon, preferring her ties to the Teen Titans over that of Paradise Island - something that surprised her former tutor Artemis, though she accepted the girl's decision.
The next few months saw Cassie and Tim attempt to kindle a romance on numerous occasions, though they finally ended their relationship following their first official date. Cassie found herself unable to look past Conner - being close to Robin wasn't right.
Desperate to repair the relationship between the Amazons and the World of Man, Cassie adopted a secret identity, taking up the name "Drusilla" and attempted to apprehend a group of mystical beasts left over from the Amazons' former invasions. In doing so, she met her half-brother Hercules, and the pair fought numerous Olypmian Gods, the Female Furies and her efforts saw her reconcile with Wonder Woman - whom she'd barely spoken to since Superboy's passing. She returned to the Titans feeling stronger than she had, more sure of herself and her place in the world - the first time since Connor's death.
Batman's untimely end saw Tim leave the Teen Titans, and Cassie was placed in charge. Adding to the team, she recruited a number of young heroes, including Kid Eternity and Aquagirl. One of her first tasks as leader of the Titans, and perhaps one of the most trying she could face, was dealing with the news of Conner's rebirth. Despite meeting him briefly on his return, it took Cassie an invite from Martha Kent (now sheltering Conner at the Kent Farmstead) to see him properly - their meeting essentially a date. The pair agreed they still had feelings for each other, but that the timing wasn't right to rekindle their relationship.
Unable to join the Titans for personal reasons, Conner left Cassie to lead the team, and many of her early missions were frought with mistakes. One failure led to the death of Kid Devil, and she struggled leading her team on further skirmishes - her self-confidence shaken. Beast Boy returned to the team and took her position of leadership from her, which caused a great deal of argument between the pair - though he did so to lighten the burden Cassie had put on her own shoulders.
The Blackest Night - the ressurection of the dead by Black Lanterns - saw Cassie defending the Titans' Tower against the undead, and indeed face Conner who'd been granted a Black Lantern ring. His care for her allowed him to break the ring's power, and together they tricked the ring and defeated its hold on Kent. On doing so, they joined other heroes in Coast City - offering their services in the final battle against the Lanterns.
Following the Black Lantern's defeat, Cassie has returned to the Teen Titans as their leader with renewed trust in her capabilities.
She looked at herself in the full length mirror, her brow lofted, her lips pursed. She tilted her head left, and then right, attempting to change the angle at which she viewed herself. No matter how many times she looked over herself from head to foot, and no matter how many times she fluttered and blinked her eyelids, her reflection remained the same. Frankly, said reflection sucked.
I look ridiculous. Completely and utterly ridiculous.
And she did.
The Beaumont Academy for Girls had a rather unique uniform, in that it required all attendants to wear the most cliché attire associated with ‘school girls’ that it could possibly force upon the young, nubile students. Pleated, mid-thigh length skirts were a necessity, as were knee-high socks and the tight, white, see-through-when-wet blouses worn by girls in terrible teen movies. All the jumpers seemed sleeveless, no matter the weather, and blazers seemed to exist to be slightly undersized and draw attention to anything but signs of academia. Cassie wouldn’t have been overly surprised if someone walked in and told her she was applying to be an extra in St. Trinian’s. It seemed more probable than her dressing up as part of an elaborate scheme to get into a school that supposedly trained some of the world’s most deadly assassins.
If people are actually trained to fight wearing this, every fan fiction writer in the world is actually right and realism just took a kick in the teeth. Repeatedly.
A scowl wrinkled her nose and forehead as she let out a long sigh, pulling at the hem of the incredibly short skirt donning her lower half. There was no way that she could make herself look or feel any more comfortable than she did – and that was pretty damn uncomfortable.
As a general rule of thumb, Cassandra Sandsmark was a fairly confident girl, not that she always had been. Indeed, there was a period of her life where events had left her shaken, and she struggled to feel at home in her own clothes – be it her slacks or the costume she had worn for years fighting alongside her closest friends. But things had changed; Wonder Girl was back.
But her school uniform, if she could even refer to it as that, was certainly not something she felt herself warming to. Much like the teammate who she shared the assignment with – Rose Wilson. AKA Ravager. AKA the Daughter of Deathstroke the Terminator. AKA someone who Cassie had never liked, probably never would like, and who in her eyes, thought far too much of herself. However, as a good leader - something that Cassie was striving to be - one put one's personal feelings aside for the good of the team.
Flicking her hair back over her shoulder, she gave in trying to resurrect any dignity she may have had before donning her unsightly outfit, and pulled her long hair back into a loose ponytail before tugging the sleeves of her blouse down about her gauntlets and hiding them from view. She fastened her cuffs and sighed again, before turning toward the door to her room, heading toward it in a way that could only be described as ‘lack lustre.’
Lessons fast approached, and she needed to check in with her partner before attending her first class. The idea of meeting with Rose Wilson at any time made Cassie feel like dragging her feet.
I bet she’s going to love this uniform on herself. She thought as she crossed the hall in a few steps, rapping sharply on the door opposite her own.
“Hey, wakey-wakey. We’ve got class to catch!”
