Summary: There is a cabal that has slipped into Star City, they currently harbor their numbers in a secret underground facility. A wire has come through tasking Ja Zaki with wiping out this nest of criminals.
Beneath Star City there existed an expansive labyrinth that long since its construction had been forgotten or at least otherwise neglected. Ja Zaki had procured city blueprints by certain means and had busied himself with familiarizing himself with the maze. It had been insisted to him to organize and bring with him a team to execute the plan to lay siege on this underground complex, but naturally the Red Lion had to decline. While his employer thought it the traditional sense of greed all villains harbored that Red Lion turned down the notion, wishing to keep the millions for his payment all to himself. But that was a rather small aspect of Matthew's decision making. The truth of the matter was his enjoyment of working alone, especially against supposedly insurmountable odds. Teams were often breeding grounds for traitors and that was doubly true for teams assembled on the fly. And so Matthew had flown into Star City alone save for his promethium Red Lion suit, of course.
The night was cold and dreary, with gray clouds circled around the tips of pointed buildings prodding into the ink black sky. Thin mist of rain sprinkled down on the red of Ja Zaki's suit, darkening the material in several small spots on his shoulder and chest. The fur around the collar of the suit was streaked with tiny beads of water along the white strands. Matthew pulled the mask down over his face to complete the ensemble of the Red Lion, his body crouched in the dark as he darted for an alley.
The blueprints he had scoured over were at least a decade out of date, but luckily if there existed any changes that were not reflected in those documents the entrance was not one. An old boarded up chute gave Ja Zaki the entry he sought, bringing him to a small square room that held nothing but a steel ladder that would take him further down. It was almost like traveling through a sewer system, which was probably much more apropos than Matthew realized. A hundred years ago the system he was traversing had in fact been the beginning stages of Star's sewage draining system. The city eventually evolved and expanded the project to the entirety of their city but not before voiding the place where Matthew was now. It was a remnant of the past and no longer of use to anyone important to the city, making it the perfect place to be usurped by criminals.
While Matthew's new life as a merc saw him seeking to become a model villain he could not say that he would be the type to call underground caverns, formerly sewer lines, his hideout. Pardon the pun but it was quite beneath him.
Finally reaching the end of the ladder and coming to firm ground beneath his feet Matthew unsheathed a flashlight. He recalled, in his mind, the layout he'd study in the city's plans and set off down the tunnel to his right. The floor was stone, slicked with grime and coated in dust, the walls made of metal that had questionable markings and stains decorating them. Matthew ignored the filth and ventured forth deeper into the underground.
