Subject Attributes
Meta-Human Abilities:
Standard Abilities:
10th Level Intellect:
These days many claim to be a genius, however with Lex it is the truth.Luthor's intelligence is nearly unrivaled, making him one of the smartest minds on Earth as well as the larger universe. He is a man of science who possesses a mind that is capable of performing numerous calculations and equations simultaneously. Chemistry, robotics, genetics, physics, politics, business; Lex Luthor holds extensive knowledge in all fields. Lex has solved complicated equations in a few minutes and holds a myriad of masters and doctorates.
Business Management:
Lex Luthor is one of the richest and most influential businessmen the world over, his company second only to Wayne Enterprises. Unlike Wayne, Luthor is more brash and unethical in his approach to his endeavors, often engaging in illegal activities to benefit LexCorp behind closed doors. At one point Lex essentially owned every business in the city of Metropolis, showing how far his influence could truly reach. However Lex is currently no longer the owner of LexCorp.
Political Science:
Well versed in lying and cheating and using money to push his nefarious acts, is it any question that Lex is a wonderful politician? Lex Luthor's corporate skills applied just as sharply in politics. As he had worked along side them for some time Lex has a strong understanding of bureaucrats. For a time Luthor served as President of the United States, and as POTUS he executed political planning expertly.
Leadership:
From Injustice Leagues, Everymen, to an entire nation, Lex Luthor has shown time and time again exemplary skill when it comes to leading others. His showmanship, way with words, charisma, and influence make others naturally gravitate to him, and it is a trait that Luthor abuses often.
Manipulation:
Lex Luthor is a chameleon, he adapts and displays only what he needs others to see at any given time. He is exceptionally skilled at getting what he wants when he wants it, even practically forcing others to act against their own best interests without them being the wiser.
Billionaire:
Money is the best super power. With enough of it one can accomplish all things imaginable, and Lex Luthor is the greatest proof of this. From obtaining alien DNA, to making enemies disappear. Lex’s money, and the influence it grants, affords him a number of networks to utilize to further his own goals.
Hand-to-Hand Combat (Basic):
Lex Luthor is also trained in hand-to-hand combat, though his personal Amazon fighting instructors consider him a sub-par combatant with poor form. He has single-handedly fought with Nightwing and Batman, although he only won these fights due to such advantages as Nightwing being drugged and him still wearing parts of his old armor when he fought Batman.
Paraphernalia:
Warsuit Mk. IV:
Lex’s war suits have undergone a number of designs and enhancements. The current suit he utilizes is a suit originally obtained from Apokolips. To enhance this suit and make it his own Lex took some of the Kryptonian technology he had acquired and reverse engineered to upgrade tech his own company had already created and owned. Applying these developments to his suit has made it functional indefinitely. The MkIV armor provides:
- Superhuman Strength: The armor allows the wearer to go toe to toe with Superman, matching his standard power level blows.
- Superhuman Durability: The enhanced durability of the suit’s armor is designed and capable of enduring full-powered punches from Superman at his most empowered.
- Flight: Housing advanced jets in the boots, and a stabilizer in the back port, the suit is capable of high speed flight. Capable of reaching such speeds as 400 mph
- Life Support: While Lex’s head may appear to be exposed, shielding actually keeps him safe from attack and the outside world. This shielding is sealed and provides oxygen purification systems to support Lex in hostile environments(ie space).
- Force Field Generation: This shielding is made to keep the wearer inside the suit safe from attack as well as radiation, toxic chemicals, corrosives, and kinetics. The left gauntlet can also produce an energy shield.
- Satellite Uplink: The armor is equipped with sensor systems linked with Lexcorp’s computers and satellites.
- Energy Projection: With varying affects and from varying locations:
- Green Kryptonite(weakens Kryptonians) energy generator in right forefinger.
- Red Kryptonite(makes Kryptonians act irrationally) energy generator in right middle finger.
- Blue Kryptonite(antidote to Red K; Bizarro's weakness) energy generator in right ring-finger.
- Black Kryptonite(inverts a Kryptonian's morals) energy generator in right pinky finger.
- Blue energy from left gauntlet.
- Electrical surge generated across the armor.
- Energy Blade: The right gauntlet can unsheathe a blade of pure energy from the forearm.
- Kryptonite Energy Spikes: Again the right gauntlet, this time the underside, can produce spikes composed of kryptonite energy.
Subject Weaknesses:
Mortal:
Even with more money than God, an alien armor suit, and the brightest mind on the planet, Lex Luthor is 100% human being and thus 100% killable. And it takes a lot less than a rare irradiated green rock to do so.
Unhinged:
Ever since being exposed during his presidency as a mad man Lex’s facade has cracked and left him more vulnerable than ever. His mind is fragile, he has loosened his hold on his composure and is now prone to outbursts of rage.
Obsession:
Lex has claimed himself able to cure incurable disease, provide free energy for all of Metropolis, end world hunger, and yet he has done none of this. The reason? Superman. For all the great things Lex can do with his status and his connections across the globe, it is all squandered on his hatred and obsession with stopping Superman.
Fear of a Super Man:
While Lex hates and distrusts Superman, he also fears the Man of Steel. He fears what a Superman means; for the country, the world, and for himself. Lex Luthor is formidable, he is cunning, he is the most intelligent being on the planet, and yet he is still no Superman. The idea of Superman is frightening to Lex Luthor, it makes his accomplishments pale in comparison, his hard work is nothing to the effortless gifts of an alien god. Superman means Lex facing his own mortality.
Subject History
Since the colonial days, the beginning of our nation, the Luthors have had a long and rich history with the city of Metropolis. It was the Luthors who played a large role in founding the city as Pilgrims, some of Lex’s ancestors were even Native Americans that met the arriving pilgrims. The Luthor family name became known for wealth and influence over the following centuries, dealing in trades, oil, railroads, etc. At the turn of the 20th century Wallace Luthor, the great-grandfather of Lex Luthor, was a thriving millionaire industrialist, sadly the fortune amassed by the wealthy Luthor was lost wholly in the wake of the stock market crash. Wallace Luthor went to his grave a poor man, and most of the Luthor influence died with him.
The family brand and name would not rise from the ashes again until the arrival of Alexander Luthor. Like his grandfather and his father before him, Lex was born into extreme poverty. Born and raised in the Simon Project, most infamously known as Suicide Slum, Lex was raised by an alcoholic and abusive father. His mother was a woman who turned a blind eye to her husband’s liquor-fueled rampages that usually left her children targeted. Life of poverty was not what Lex wanted, he aspired for more, and that aspiration often made him get the worst of what his father Lionel had to offer. Lex grew up caring neither for his father or his mother Letitia, showing love only for his sister Lena.
For a time, as a teen, Lex had managed to leave Suicide Slum and began living in Smallville with his aunt. In Smallville Lex met a young Clark Kent and while Lex was stand-offish the two developed a friendship. Eventually Lex would leave Smallville and return to Metropolis, avoiding much suspicion in the odd but accidental death of his parents. In secret Lex had taken out a large life insurance policy on both his parents and carefully orchestrated the death of them both. He left his sister behind in Smallville as he returned triumphantly to Metropolis where he founded LexCorp.
Under Lex’s tenacity and brilliant mind LexCorp became a multi-national corporation that soon grew to dominate the city of Metropolis. To hold onto his wealth and power Lex began buying up numerous smaller and rival corporations around Metropolis, eventually gaining the perfect way to portray the image he desired in all of media.
Billed as the Most Powerful Man in Metropolis, Lex became annoyed by the arrival of Superman, who threatened to usurp his throne. Lex had come from nothing and worked his entire life to build the Luthor legacy that he had began anew. He had made himself known, powerful, and rich beyond imagination. And then came along Superman who worked for nothing, he simply was born being “great”. Superman was effectively the antithesis of Lex Luthor and the adoration the Man of Steel was beginning to acquire at the start of his career angered Lex.
Luthor joined a secret project with army general Lane, dubbed Project: Steel Soldier, in hopes of capturing the Superman and studying his alien physiology. As a part of this project Lex conspired the hijacking of his own highly advanced bullet train, and used it to act as a literal bullet against Superman. Successful in their attempts to get Superman in their possession, Lex then back-stabbed the general and used the moment to acquire the sample of kryptonite that the US government had been hiding. When Superman recovered from the attack on him and fled Lex did not act to stop him, for he knew if he planned to really take down the new Most Powerful Man of Metropolis it would take time and cunning.
While secretly waging his war against Superman, Lex continued to build up his own image around Metropolis and the world. He groomed his image into the benchmark for philanthropy. Lex personally reverse-engineered a number of alien technologies to fashion Metropolis into the true World of Tomorrow that it envisioned itself. When Gotham City was decimated by a record setting earthquake and subsequently abandoned by the American government, it was Lex Luthor who led the charge in rebuilding the city.
A number of crimes and plots were linked to Lex at some time or another but ultimately nothing could ever be proven without a doubt. While doing inquisitions after him Luthor became involved with a Countess who had become acting CEO of LexCorp. The two engaged secretly and in time Contessa Erica Alexanda Del Portenza gave Lex a child, Lena. And through this all Lex continued bolstering his image in the media while also working to remove the threat that was Superman. After the birth of Lena Luthor, Lex had Erica placed into an induced coma and kept her hidden away while he raised their child. Eventually the Contessa awoke and kidnapped her daughter away from Lex, simply to strike back at the man who had first struck at her, and not at all caring for the child. Of course Lex got her back, with the help of Superman no less, to whom Lex made clear Lena was the only thing he cared about.
Tragedy struck when Brainiac attacked Metropolis, however it only got worse when Brainiac 13 arrived from the future to absorb his future self who, by this time, had downloaded himself into Lena. When Brainiac 13's defeat appeared imminent, he made a bargain with Lex--hand over Brainiac and the his vessel(Lena), and thereby allow him to escape, and in return Brainiac 13 would keep Metropolis upgraded as its distant futuristic self, allowing Lex Luthor to be triumphant once again. Lex accepted this deal, handing over his daughter. When Superman confronted him about what he did, Luthor coldly replied "I have my city, my kingdom on the edge of tomorrow. As for my princess...I can always make another." Moving forward and capitalizing on the events of the Gotham earthquake and the previous administration condemning the damaged city as a No Man’s Land, Lex threw his hat into the Presidential race.
Luthor ran on a platform of technological progression for the common people. He proposed a suspension and ban of fossil fuels to further clean technology and place a “flying car in every garage”. Lex Luthor won the Presidency and became more powerful than he’d ever been. His first large victory as President was combining and commanding the efforts of the US Army, Earth’s heroes, and a number of alien forces against an invading force known as Imperiex. However, Lex had known of Imperiex’s invasion well before it occurred and did nothing to warn the world, using it only to ensure himself a victory in the eyes of the people. He was warned by Lena Luthor, who had arrived from the future aged and still possessed by Brainiac 13. At the point where Imperiex was seemingly destroyed, Brainiac 13 revealed himself and absorbed Imperiex's energy for his own, using the upgraded Metropolis as part of his plan. Brainiac 13 laughed at Luthor for trusting her and her master. In the end Lena showed her true Luthor colors and betrayed Brainiac 13, ultimately siding with her father. After Imperiex and Brainiac 13 were both defeated, Lena reverted back to an infant no older than the day she was given up by Lex. Superman returned the child to her father, warning him to stop “being a God and try being a father.” Lex immediately placed the child somewhere safe where she could grow away from his enemies.
Aside from the invasion Lex also played the key roll in leading the United States through one of its greatest years of prosperity and economic success. In just about a year’s time Lex was able to drastically reduce the national debt of sixteen trillion dollars to a measly three million dollars. Easily Lex paid the remaining off with his money from his own pockets, thus bringing the national debt to nothing. Things went sour for Lex when he overplayed his hand. After success of framing Bruce Wayne for the murder of Vesper Fairchild, Lex thought the presidency made him completely untouchable. The President orchestrated a way to blame Superman for an approaching kryptonite meteor. He believed all he had done would make him trusted without question, however there were suspicions and when calls for proof could not be answered questions began being raised about Lex. A plot was discovered to further torment and attack the mentality of Bruce Wayne by posing Metallo as the true culprit for the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
At the end of his rope Lex fell on a contingency where he combined the steroid Venom and a synthetic liquified kryptonite, along with one of his war suits, to battle Superman outright. The concoction Lex had created weighed on his mind and madness began to seep in, prompting Lex to reveal his true nature as a megalomaniac super villain. During this unraveling, Talia al ghul, who had become CEO of LexCorp during Lex’s presidency, sold off all of the company’s assets to the Wayne Foundation. In the aftermath Lex was robbed of his fortune, he had tarnished his own legacy and image, and the American people impeached him.
In a bid to rebuild and climb from his defeat Lex tracked down his Earth-3 counterpart's son and allowed the Joker to kill him in a fit of rage. This was orchestrated for the purpose of using the man's body to show the world that he had a rogue clone who was held responsible for all of his past actions, thus clearing Luthor of all of his past criminal record.
Subject Interview
The press was having a field day. Lex Luthor was finally once again emerging into the spotlight of both the public and corporate world. Ever since he had used the corpse of his doppelganger from another Earth to escape his crimes Lex had been secluded away from the rest of the world, largely because of shame.
He had failed. He had failed miserably and everyone would remember it. On paper he was free, he had absolved himself of all wrong doing and could no longer be blamed for the truly atrocious things he had done, but that was just on paper. The public was not happy with him, they had made that abundantly clear with their ever growing calls for him to be removed from his position in his own company as well as charged for his crimes all over again. However, that didn't get to Lex, he was a man of thick skin and the mumblings of inconsequential persons afflicted by their own narcissistic, compulsory fixation with "cancel culture" did not impede him in the slightest.
It was Lex's own mind that was displeased with him. How could he have been so foolish? So many times he had gone so far and obtained what was otherwise unobtainable. But now he was back in the dirt and squalor. It did not fit the former President, it did not accommodate his sumptuous ego. He was in a place he had not been in quite some time; rock bottom. However, it was a narrative to steer and fuel his re-ignition. Like the mighty Phoenix rising from a brilliant inferno, Lex Luthor would be reborn.
Even the citizens that had turned on him and did all things now to spite their once great leader, clamored for his return. Lex Luthor planned to make an address, and everyone stood to their feet. They waited with bated breath and all that. Lex Luthor emerged from darkness, his strong yet elegant legs carrying him out from the back of a stretch limousine. He wore slacks and a fine white business shirt. Cameras were angled at him from all places imaginable, reporters and radio personalities all shouted to be heard.
Luthor approached a lone podium in the center of Metropolis, he stood in a sea of civilians. Chatter was incessant, everyone had an opinion that they desperately needed to share with their neighbor, but they all stared at the businessman without a blink. Lex placed his hands atop the podium, his green eyes drank in the crowd that had gathered for his first public appearance in what felt like ages. The chatter had turned to a dull whisper now. Lex parted his lips and licked them lightly. He cleared his throat over the erected microphone and a dead silence fell over every being in attendance.
He had them once again.
