As the beast continued to struggle against the hold of Cassandra’s lasso, Diana readied her own. With a practised flick of her wrist, she ensnared the creature too, expertly lacing the looped end of her lariat atop the other – the one already used to bind the behemoth. She pulled as tightly as her younger sister, each gilded rope as taut as the other, and then the Amazonian princess spoke a simple command. “Cassandra, up!” Wonder Girl had worked with her mentor for long enough to know exactly what was asked of her, and she took to the air, matching the speed of Wonder Woman’s ascent.
They came to a halt when they, and the assailant trapped between them, floated some hundred feet above the island’s surface. Still, it struggled, restless and persistent in its desire to escape its bondage. However, the bonds the Amazon sisters used had been blessed by gods – it would take far more than brute strength to loosen their clasp. "There has to be something we're missing." Cassandra nodded her agreement – though she wasn’t quite sure what.
“Maybe you could ask it?” It was, after all, held by the Lasso of Truth. If the minotaur-headed thing could speak, maybe it would be compelled to explain its presence. Or its weaknesses. Cassie would have settled for either. “If not…we can see if it swims?” She inclined her head at the sea – though powerful on land, the incredible weight and density of the bull-being might have meant in struggled when surrounded by water, unable to use its footing to brace itself when exerting its phenomenal strength.

In a world of ordinary men, I am Wonder Woman.

The might of the creature was jarring. Even with all of Diana's experience behind her, it was unprecedented. Suspended between the two hallowed lariats, hundreds of feet in the air, it was still taking the combined force of both Amazons to keep him restrained. Diana was sure that this beast could deliver a blow that would knock even Kal out for the count, if it connected.
Cassandra's suggestions weren't bad ones, but Diana doubted either would work. The animalistic, primal behavior of the beast so far didn't make her confident he'd be open for conversation, regardless of the lariat's power. Meanwhile, the sea was all around them, but not close enough. Diana wondered if changing their stranglehold in any way would allow the minotaur the chance to escape or fight back in a way they couldn't counter.
To emphasize the point, he gave a snort and strained against the bindings. Diana's grip on her lasso tightened, making muscles stand out in her shoulders and back. Again and again the minotaur bucked, and each time the two sisters had to abandon any thought except keeping him held. Athena, give me wisdom to see- and she did. With each strain of their captive, something on her peripheral happened.
Diana looked down, and sure as Helios would rise following Eos's lead, the pyre on the island below pulsed and raged more fiercely with every push. "That it would be so plain," the princess said, to herself. Clever. And foolish of her to have not considered. "The flame, Wonder Girl. You must extinguish it. I'll give you the opportunity." Trusting wholeheartedly as ever in Cassandra, Diana didn't waste time. She surged, a streak of color and intent, through the air and bodily tackled the creature, aiming to carry him into the shallows, like Cassandra had suggested.

The bull-headed behemoth’s constant struggling made even considering a path to victory difficult. Just when Cassandra felt as though the creature had struggled its last, having given up on escaping the hold the Amazon women had upon it, it bucked with more strength and ferocity than she thought possible, threatening to tear Wonder Girl’s lasso from her hands. Diana offered no immediate response to her protégé’s suggestions, simply gritting her teeth and holding on to her Lariat of Truth more tightly, muscles strained about her shoulders and upper arms. Cassie found it somewhat comforting to see Wonder Woman as taxed by the minotaur-helmed hulk as she was, for it highlighted Diana’s unshakable resolve – not even a trace of panic had crossed her features, suggesting a total faith in both her and her Amazon sister’s capability.
It was that silent trust and unspoken confidence that had always buoyed Cassandra Sandsmark, a quiet mentoring that had cemented Wonder Girl’s belief in herself when the rest of the world had tried to chisel away at her conviction.
All of a sudden, Diana inclined her gaze toward the isle they had fought upon moments before, back toward the strange flame that had been ignited in the abandoned Athenian temple. Her eyes lit up, a spark of inspiration having struck her like a thunderbolt hurled from the heavens. She murmured something to herself, words that Cassandra struggled to pick out over the snorting and roaring of their captive monster, before directing the young woman to extinguish the fire that still burned.
With her own attention diverted back to the isle, Cassie almost missed Diana’s charge, her body colliding with the horned beast and driving him into the shallows. Releasing her hold upon her pulsating lasso, narrowly avoiding being dragged along behind the rapidly descending pair, Wonder Girl sped toward the temple. Upon landing, as close to the mystic fire as she could, she began scooping heaps of dirt onto the flames, hoping that, like most pyres, it could be smothered.
However, arcane in nature, not needing oxygen to burn, it blazed on, leaving a frustrated Cassandra Sandsmark searching her immediate surroundings for something else that might put out the fire.
