Subject Weaknesses: A result of PTSD and survivor's guilt, Jessica has severe anxiety. Though she has been improving and learning to cope, it's still sporadic and has a large impact on her life. Some days, she can take on the world. At other times, it's near impossible for her to get out of bed. Her anxiety can cause her to have severe self doubt and for her thoughts to spiral into fear and negativity. Jessica is also extremely new to the superhero gig and is having to make up a lot of it as she goes. The ring, as well, is capable of running out of power and without her power ring, she is only human and vulnerable to just about anything.

Subject History

Born to a Mexican-American family, Jessica lived a fairly normal life for her first two decades. It was during a hunting trip with friends when Jessica's life was drastically altered. While making their way through the woods, the group stumbled upon mobsters in the process of burying a body. Not keen on having any witnesses, the mobsters captured Jessica and her friends. They shot all of Jessica's friends, but she was able to escape as the only survivor.

The incident heavily traumatized Jessica and she developed crippling anxiety. She locked herself in her apartment for four years, shutting out the world and drowning in her anxiety. She was eventually able to push herself enough to seek council from a therapist. Not long after, her life was drastically changed once more when she was sought out by a Green Lantern ring and became the newest addition to the Green Lantern Corps.

Jessica since moved in with her sister and has been doing this superhero thing for a few months now. She's slowly getting her feet under her, though there's been a lot of bumps along the way and there's no doubt there will be more.

Subject Interview

I got this, she thought, a bead of sweat dripping down her temple. She grit her teeth, felt the pulse of the energy around her as she focused, will swelling to power her ring as it held back the large tentacles of this—what? Ridiculously humongous squid-thing? Or was it more of an octopus? She hadn’t yet gotten a real decent look yet, too distracted by the tentacles and collapsing buildings and the that she couldn’t think tentacles without thinking about that anime messaging board she’d accidentally stumbled on as a kid that still haunted her to this day and- Anyway, it was a giant sea monster.

She gasped; another tentacle swung down on top of the wall she had up and she felt the vibration through her energy and the concrete of the city and- I don’t got this. The thought was quick, sharp, invading her mind and burrowing in before she even knew it was there. No, no no. This wasn’t working. Her construct was going to break. The monster was going to destroy the city. She couldn’t do it. She couldn’t save anyone. Her throat was tightening, her heart racing, her stomach sinking. She couldn’t do this. Why did she ever think she could this? Her wall was cracking, giving way.

She sucked in a breath through her nose, counting to four. She held her breath for seven counts, forcefully breathed out through her mouth for eight. Her heart was still racing, stomach still tense, but she was focused, slamming a thought into her head and shoving it to the forefront until she believed it.
