Subject Attributes
Meta-Human Abilities: Kyle's meta-human abilities all come from the use of his Green Lantern ring.
- Energy Projection: He can use the ring to fire blasts of Oan energy, the specific energy the ring uses willpower to control and manipulate, as well as create projectile weapons out of this energy.
- Force Field: He's able to shield himself and others from various forms of damage. The force field created is only as strong as his will at the time is, however.
- Energy Construct Creation: He's can use the ring to mold or transform his thoughts into actual physical constructs that can be used in a variety of ways. Each construct's strength depends on the strength of his will at the time he creates them.
- Superhuman Strength: While using the constructs he creates, his strength is increased to allow him to lift and move weights far heavier than 100 tons.
- Phasing: He's able to pass through certain solid objects such as walls. Whether an object can be phased through or not seems to be unclear until he actually tries and either succeeds or fails.
- Invisibility & Light Refraction: He's able to bend light waves around himself to render himself basically invisible. With more experience, he has the potential to use this to create illusions.
- Energy Twin: He's can create an "energy twin" of himself that can travel faster than he can however he's unable to move himself as he controls his "twin."
- Energy Absorption: He can use his ring to absorb and store other forms of energy, however this doesn't recharge his ring like its power battery does.
- Flight: Through the ring manipulating anti-gravitons and directing molecular movement, he's able to fly at incredible speeds and even in the vacuum of space.
- Wormholes & Spacial Warps: He can access wormholes in space, which allows him to rapidly cut time and distance while traveling.
- Time Travel: It's possible for him to use his ring to travel through time but the farther he goes, the more willpower he would need.
- Cellular Regeneration (Limited): He can use his ring to heal physical injuries on himself or on others.
- Electromagnetic Scanning: His ring comes with a wide range of detection abilities that are based on his own imagination. If he's able to conceive of it in his mind, he can most likely detect it with his ring, though the ring is unable to duplicate magical effects like clairvoyance.
- Universal Translator: Through his ring, he's able to translate a variety of languages.
- Material Alteration: He's able to change from regular clothes into his Green Lantern uniform and vice versa.
- Ring Duplication: If need be, his ring is able to duplicate itself.
- Emergency Beacon: When in distress, he's able to send out an alert to neighboring Green Lanterns in hopes of getting their aid.
- Homing Beacon: Similar to the emergency beacon, he's able to turn on a homing beacon in his ring to lead a fellow Green Lantern to him or vice versa.
- Mind Alteration: He's able to use his ring and willpower to alter the minds of others, though this ability is highly dangerous and volatile and thus not used often, if at all.
- Pocket Dimension: An entire world exists in a pocket dimension within his ring. This can be used to imprison enemies of the Green Lantern Corps.
- Resurrection: This is a very rare and unlikely to happen ability, but his ring is capable of bringing him back to life or kept "alive" if his ring somehow refuses to let him die.
- Security Protocol: He's able to program his ring if he wants to and it is already coded to him, making it unusable if it's stolen. His ring also refuses to kill another being unless they are on Oa or it had gained permission from the Guardians.
- Preset Conditions: He's able to store commands in his ring that can be executed at a later date, regardless of whether he's wearing the ring on that date or not.
- Thought Relay: He's able to gain a telepathic link with other Green Lanterns as well as his ring. This is strongest the closer he is to another Green Lantern and when he's physically wearing his ring.
- Environmental Playback: He can use the ring to observe past events in a ghostlike state, though he is unable to alter the outcome of this playback of events.
Standard Abilities:
- Indomitable Will: Kyle possesses a naturally strong will which has aided him in becoming one of the strongest out of the Green Lantern ranks.
- Artistry: He's very skilled when it comes to art, specifically but not limited to drawing, and is quite creative. This creativity and artistic sense often bleeds into the constructs he creates.
- Combat: He's become quite skilled in hand-to-hand combat, able to hold his own in a fight without his ring.
Paraphernalia:
- Green Lantern Ring: Kyle is equipped with ring from the Green Lantern Corps which gives him all of his meta abilities.
- Green Lantern Power Battery: Like other Lanterns, he's been given a power battery used to charge his ring.
Subject Weaknesses:
- Yellow Impurity: His ring is unable to directly affect the power of Yellow Lanterns, or the Sinestro Corps, and their yellow rings unless he, personally, is able to "accept fear." While he's gained a reputation for being one of the bravest in the Green Lantern Corps, he's still not immune to fear.
- Willpower Dependent: His ring is dependent on willpower and thus he needs to keep his will strong in order to use his ring. Fear, being the enemy of will, can cause him to be unable to use his ring at all.
- Mental Instability Protocol: His ring is programmed to be unable to use if he is mentally impaired or incapacitated in any way, such as being drunk, high, or even simply feeling vertigo.
- Recharge Protocol: His ring is able to retain a charge until it starts to run out of power. When that happens, he's required to get to his Green Lantern Power Battery and recite the code of the corps in order to recharge it and thus use his ring again.
- Vibrational Interference: When a vibration hits a certain speed, it affects his ring, causing it to function in miniature. For example, it would cause all of his constructs, no matter what they are, to be small rather than his intended size.
- Red Power Rings: The rings of the Red Lantern Corps are able to dissolve the energy from his ring.
- Only Human: Without his ring, he's just a regular human and thus vulnerable to any type of harm.
Subject History
Kyle worked as a struggling-but-gifted freelance graphic artist in Los Angeles until the last surviving Guardian of the Universe, Ganthet gave him a power ring and made him a Green Lantern. His first foray into superhero work went exceedingly well until, tragically, his then-girlfriend was brutally murdered by Major Force. Following Kyle's defeat of Major Force, Alan Scott approached him and taught him about the history of the Green Lantern Corps, as well as its current, shattered state due to Hal Jordan having gone mad.
Kyle helped confront Hal, now the villain Parallax, when he tried to reshape the universe with is powers. Ultimately Kyle was forced to detonate the planet Oa to stop Hal's schemes, and was stranded in space. He returned to earth and moved to New York City. With another Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, Kyle fought Major Force again, his ally apparently killing the villain. He then encountered Parallax again, who demanded his power ring, but Kyle proved he was deserving of it.
Next, Kyle met Wally West/Flash (who he became good friends with) and Superboy on adventures. He then began a relationship with Donna Troy, though she ended things to journey into space with the Darkstars, beneath John Stewart. Feeling disheartened, he sought the council of other superheroes and, with their advice, felt revitalized in his superhero work. Donna returned just then, though, and brought Kyle to Rann to fight Darkseid's son. They won, but John Stewart was paralyzed in the conflict. The three returned to earth and Kyle and Donna rekindled their romance. He also met Connor Hawke/Green Arrow II and forged a lasting friendship with him.
Kyle found and convinced Hal to help in the fight with Sun-Eater, but success came at the cost of Hal's life. Following a fight against renegade White Martians, Kyle became a charter member for the JLA. He also had his first run-in with Fatality, a woman bent on hunting Green Lanterns throughout the galaxy. Donna ended their relationship when her soon-to-be-ex-husband and son were tragically killed in a car accident. A time-traveling escapade involving a past Hal Jordan ended with Kyle receiving Hal's ring, which had the power to duplicate itself. He began a romantic relationship with Jennifer-Lynn Hayden/Jade.
With this new ring, Kyle began rebuilding the Green Lantern Corps. He gave the first ring to Jade, then left Earth to find more recruits. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful, and returned to his home planet. Kyle's adventures took him to literal Hell and back again next - during which he ran into Donna, who explained they could never be together, and Jade subsequently dumped him. In the aftermath of these events, Hal Jordan became the new Spectre.
Kyle began working for a magazine called Feast, which included an assistant in the form of a young man named Terry Berg. He fought a rogue group of Manhunters while his career began to take off, and had yet another battle with Fatality. Kyle and Jade also worked through their former troubles and began dating again. With the JLA's help, Kyle then defeated the yellow power ring-armed Nero, who was attacking New York City. He proposed to Jade, who refused, not wanting to rush into things. Kyle discovered, too, that Terry had a crush on him and, through a long heart-to-heart, became close friends with him instead.
Kyle then fought Oblivion, and defeated him once he realized that Oblivion was the manifestation of his own fear. Next he briefly became the godlike being Ion but, worried about losing his humanity, he shed omnipotence instead, using the discarded energy to reignite the Core of the planet Oa and breathe life back into the Green Lantern Corps. After a homophobic attack on Terry, Kyle spent some time in self-imposed exile traveling the galaxies. When he returned to Earth, he found Jade had begun seeing someone else and their relationship ended spectacularly. Another run-in with Major Force made Kyle believe himself a danger to his loved ones, and he went into space yet again.
The Guardians soon tasked him with recovering Hal Jordan's corpse. Kyle began working properly with the Green Lantern Corps, being designated "Torchbearer" among their ranks. During the Rann-Thanagar War, Jade tragically perished, transferring her power to Kyle, transcending him yet again into Ion. This set off a convoluted and confusing set of events that ended with Kyle saving Oa from destruction by Nero's hand. In the midst of more paradoxical mysteries inundating his life, Kyle's mother passed away, even his Ion powers not being able to spare her. He was then transported to the seat of the newly-formed Sinestro Corps and devoured and turned into the new Parallax.
Ultimately Kyle, with Hal's help, reverted to normal and defeated Sinestro. He confronted the Guardians over perceived manipulations and deceptions, was made a member of the Green Lantern Honor Guard, and moved to Oa. He began operating on the Corps's behalf full-time, which was made more complicated after the Guardians forbid Lanterns from romantic relationships with one another, and Kyle's feelings for a colleague, Soranik Natu. Further outright insubordination on Kyle's part (opposing the Guardians's desire to kill escaped prisoners of Oa without fair trial) resulted in his suspension and temporary confinement to Earth.
Kyle played a pivotal part in the fight against Nekron and his Black Lantern Corps. In the aftermath of Nekron's defeat, Jade was among the many deceased persons resurrected.
Subject Interview
An asteroid heading toward Earth was probably more up Superman's alley which was, of course, why Kyle was currently trying to stop it with a Superman-shaped construct. The size of the asteroid told him that even when it broke up in Earth's atmosphere, it wouldn't break up enough to no longer be considered a safety risk. Thus he either needed to break it up even more himself, before it hit the atmosphere or redirect it.
Currently he was trying to redirect it - or rather construct!Superman was but he controlled him so it definitely counted as him doing all the work. Unfortunately the asteroid was close enough to get caught in the planet's gravitational pull.
Kyle quietly cursed to himself and focused on pouring more juice into his construct. The construct pushed harder, grew bigger than the asteroid. He poured enough energy into it to make it large enough to just grab the asteroid and toss it. He had it toss the asteroid like a football. Kyle grinned, proud, then grimaced as he noticed the asteroid smack into a satellite before it kept flying back into space where it had come from.
He really hoped that had been a LexCorp satellite and not a Wayne one. Those were expensive and he'd much rather wreck one of Lex Luthor's than owe Bruce Wayne money.
Kyle lifted his concentration on the Superman construct and watched as it dissipated, the green energy returning to his ring. A part of him hoped he hadn't stepped on the Man of Steel's toes but the rest of him knew Clark was too nice to mind. Besides protecting Earth from galactic dangers was also part of his job.
He placed his hands on his hips and just floated there in space for a moment, his ring's energy helping him not to be pulled back to Earth by the planet's gravity. He waited a moment until he was sure that the asteroid wasn't coming back - he didn't think it was a sentient asteroid but one could never be too sure in his line of work. Besides he wouldn't have been surprised if someone he'd pissed off was behind it all and threw it back just to annoy him.
He wasn't paranoid - that was more of a Bat thing than a Lantern thing - but he also was rarely surprised nowadays. He cringed, thinking that, suddenly feeling much older than he actually was. He decided he needed to do something fun - something young. Old people were Hal, John, and Guy - not that he would say that to John's face because John was too nice. Hal and Guy? He'd say it to their face with a smirk on his own.
He turned around and re-entered the planet's atmosphere, a green glow coming to cover his body as he willed his ring to protect him so he wouldn't ignite into flames. He thought of Connor, Wally, Donna - when had he last hung out with any of them? Not counting whenever they had to dawn their masks and save the world. He thought it had been far too long. He made a mental note to send them all texts when he got home. A movie night sounded fun and right now he couldn't think of anyone else he'd rather spend it with.
