Nightwing stood alone at the top of Gotham City Bank building and allowed himself the simple please of feeling the breeze. Nice spring weather in Gotham was as rare as a smile on Bruce's face. The temperature in Gotham shifted hard from frigid cold to humid summers at the blink of an eye and, even if spring hung around, the rain would wash you away into the sea. The moon hung high above Gotham and it's light, along with the stars, illuminated the entire city. If it weren't for the faint sound of police sirens Dick would say it was the perfect night. He had felt light and free over the last few months. The cowl and Damian were back where they belonged with Bruce, Tim was taking care of the Titans, and Jason was protecting Bludhaven. He didn't have any responsibilities and he could just... breathe for once in his life.
Well, that wasn't entirely true. Dick turned to the radio tower that sat atop of the building and removed a small device from the back of his utility belt. The last time he and Huntress staked out the building directly across from them their connection to Oracle were disrupted by some type of signal jammer - which was part of the problem. No one knew who this new group was that occupied that building. One day they set up shop and it was business as usual for them ever since. That didn't sound too unusual at first... what was unusual was all the advanced tech that started leaking into all the wrong hands. What once were simple arrests of drug runners and petty thieves turned into massive gun fights with civilian casualties due to a massive upgrade in firepower.
Barbara was able to get her hands on some of the tech and tracked it back to this one location - a new player in the area with no connections whatsoever. Babs hadn't been able to find anything online about them or at least anything dirty. Huntress had watched the place like a hawk and hadn't seen anything come or go that was out of the ordinary. Dick had even gone in undercover as a custodian, a mail clerk, and again as a security officer and still found nothing. The whole operation was clean except for the fact that it was too clean. Every corporation has some dirt hidden deep inside of it if you have the patience or at least know where to look. The fact that there was a signal jammer that disrupted their communication from Oracle also gave everyone a funny feeling.
Nightwing climbed up the radio tower slowly before strapping the device to the top. It had taken them weeks to figure out where the jammer was originating from which he knew annoyed Babs. Even when they were having dinner he could tell it bugged her while spinning her fork in a pile of spaghetti. Dick flipped the switch on the side of the device and with a small chirp he could tell it was activated. "This is Nightwing to Oracle. Do you read me?"
Tonight was the night and months of observation and reconnaissance was coming to a head. If the jammer worked, the Birds of Prey were going to infiltrate the building and do some proper recon to finally get an idea who these people were and what they were up to. Canary was being called in to lead the operation from the field with Babs overhead. Dick, though? He was just happy to not be in charge for once... though he did have some qualms with what the next steps were. That didn't mean a thing, though, if their commlinks were still being scrambled. "Oracle, this is Nightwing. Do you read?" Dick climbed down the tower.
