Subject Attributes
Meta-Human Abilities:
Elasticity - Gemini is able to stretch her body in just about any way imaginable and over considerable distances, using it to squeeze through tiny spaces or stretch after the fastest opponents. Additionally most attacks simply bounce off Gemini due to her rubbery nature, whilst her elastic limbs grant her a higher degree of strength than a normal human of her build.
Shapeshifting - You name it, Gemini can become it. She is capable of changing to resemble just about any human, animal, object or liquid that she wishes, increasing or decreasing her mass as required while imitating voices or a wide range of sounds flawlessly.
Amorphous body - She might be able to make herself appear to be made of flesh and blood, but Gemini’s body is comprised of a blue goo with the consistency of soft rubber. As a result she can be punched, stabbed, shot, even completely dismembered without feeling physical pain or suffering lasting damage, simply pulling herself back together again. Tranq darts, drugs and gasses also have no effect on her.
Separation - Gemini is with concentration able to split herself into multiple forms, however this is extremely taxing on her concentration and the further apart her pieces become the worse the strain on her consciousness. It’s usually more trouble than it’s worth.
Enhanced endurance and senses - Gemini doesn’t have a heart, lungs or bloodstream and therefore she doesn’t eat, sleep or breathe and doesn’t tire. She can keep a fight with a superior opponent, wearing them down slowly until she can crush them at leisure. Given that her eyes aren't actually eyes in the human sense at all, Gemini can see with whatever part of her body that she wishes, telescopically if she wishes and with excellent night vision. Her hearing is much better than the human norm, but her senses of smell and taste on the other hand are poor.
Eidetic memory - A sub-function of her shapeshifting, Gemini is able to perfectly recall every detail of her life since gaining her powers.
Standard Abilities:
Actress: Being able to change your shape often isn’t enough to fool someone; you have to be able to accurately portray personality and mannerisms to be accepted. Therefore Gemini has studied acting extensively and is often able to impersonate someone without friends and family realising.
Fighting Skills: In the Brotherhood she was trained in martial arts and sword fighting, becoming proficient in several disciplines. However, against most opponents she usually relies on her powerful blows and ability to soak up strikes rather than on pure combat skill.
Infiltration: Gemini is an expert in infiltration, being able to break in almost anywhere at will. It helps that if there is a hole, no matter how small she can squeeze through it, often without anyone knowing she was ever there.
Stealth: Her powers definitely help with this, but even without them she knows how to avoid being seen.
Intimidation: Gemini has taken this to an art form. She particularly likes toying with an opponent; taking their punches or energy blasts, reforming the damage and gloating over how they can’t stop her. She also likes pulling out a number of monster forms from her repertoire-coming face to face with a hideous creature in a dark alley is a particular nightmare she enjoys making real. She also has some experience in torture and interrogation.
Escape Artist: Knows when and how to escape when the going gets tough.
Criminal Connections: Madame Rouge had a great many contacts, most of whom Gemini has inherited. She is connected on a number of organisations in a number of different disguises and has access to a number of terrified minions.
Paraphernalia:
Gemini usually appears in one of two costumes, although in actual fact her clothing is nearly always a part of her. The costume she uses the most is this, inspired by her mother's outfit. The 'metal' plates (actually ultra-dense rubber) can only be cut through by a tool which can slice through the toughest substances. Her other outfit is this, which she often uses in more casual circumstances.
She also has a number of advanced tools of her assassin and spy trade provided by the Brain:
- Retina scanner
- Advanced spy-phone designed by the Brain. It's small, has a holographic interface and can hack into anything
- Personal spy computer, designed to interface with the phone.
- Miniaturised explosive charges.
- Set of Poisons
Subject Weaknesses:
Temperature - Gemini’s Achilles heel, having a body made of rubber she is very sensitive to temperature extremes. Heating her up, over 200°C she'll start to soften, over 300°C and she’ll melt into a helpless and shapeless puddle of goo. Cooling her down, below -15°C she'll start to have problems stretching and changing shape, below -30°C she'll start to physically seize up and at -°60°C she'll freeze solid, still fully conscious but unable to move a muscle.
Fire - Gemini’s other major weakness, fire damages her cells, and is capable of causing her severe pain. She’ll recover reasonably quickly once the fire is put out but it’ll likely leave her traumatised and angry.
Enhanced Senses/Telepathy- While Gemini may look and sound exactly like someone her scent never changes, and those with a sensitive nose will be able to pick out the subtle odour of rubber beneath her perfume. Likewise because Gemini’s mind is no longer based on a physical brain her thoughts (and emotions) are very alien and can be picked out of a crowd by a telepath (if they can get over the intensely painful telepathic feedback that builds the longer they poke around.)
Overconfidence - Being virtual indestructible and immune to most weaponry has made Gemini overconfident and arrogant. This can lead her to underestimate opponents and their abilities, to her cost as once demonstrated by Batgirl.
Subject History
Gemini de Mille was born to an unknown father and the supervillain Laura de Mille aka Madame Rouge, a member of the notorious Brotherhood of Evil. To keep her daughter away from her criminal life, Rouge sent Gemini to be raised in America, making sure only to visit when her schizophrenic ‘good side’ was dominant. Gemini therefore had a happy childhood, growing up without a care with a mother that loved her…right up until Garfield Logan killed her mother.
The words supervillain and criminal didn’t mean much to the young teenage girl who had just lost her only family. Alone and wracked by grief, Gemini’s metahuman gene activated, literally liquefying the terrified girl, screaming even as her mouth and throat melted into shapeless goo. Perhaps she might have remained like that, slowly succumbing to insanity had she not been found by the worst people imaginable.
Madame Rouge’s former associates in the Brotherhood of Evil, Monsieur Mallah and the Brain found Gemini at her mother’s house, and slowly, painstakingly began to teach her how to retake human form. It took the better part of a decade for Gemini to learn to appear human again, and in the meantime she grew increasingly consumed with bitterness and the desire for revenge, hating that the media called Beast Boy a hero despite him being a murderer.
So Gemini became the Brotherhood’s assassin, a weapon every bit as dangerous as her mother if not more so. Murder, extortion, inflicting pain, all became second nature to her as she slowly built up contacts and plotted her revenge, concocting a plan to destroy Beast Boy’s life in the same way he had destroyed hers. But it all went wrong, Nightwing and Flamebird interfering to wreck her schemes, with Beast Boy proving more formidable than she had anticipated.
Returning to the Brotherhood, Gemini had a run in with Batgirl, overpowering the vigilante and leaving her to seemingly die until she returned, humiliating Gemini in the process. Following this episode Gemini began to do more independent work, returning to the Brotherhood for the attack on Bludhaven that levelled the city and contaminated it with radioactive debris.
Subject Interview
Frozen, she really hated being frozen. It was like a living hell. She could see and hear everything that went on outside her icy prison but could do absolutely nothing. Her body could not make even the smallest movement, there was just this horrible feeling of numb coldness throughout her form. The guards often knocked on the ice in front of her face, waving their hands to get a response. It sent a white-hot feeling of impotent rage coursing through her, that these insects would dare to taunt her when outside the walls of this prison she’d have them pissing themselves with fear.
A loud and distinct explosion echoed through her senses and she dared to think it was a jailbreak. But nobody appeared in front of her icy tomb, no Brotherhood rescue team brandishing pickaxes to break her loose. Distantly she heard the word riot spoken by the guards into their radios as they hurried out of her room, leaving her cold, alone and close to despair. Wait, was that…yes, somehow, miraculously she could feel her legs, the little red light that indicated a continual supply of icy cold no longer blinking. Unnoticed by the guards it seemed that power to the freezer unit had been cut off and in the chaos upstairs nobody thought to check on their icebound prisoner. It would be the last mistake some of them ever made.
Slowly but surely feeling returned to her body, the ice containing her grew weak, cracking melting. She flexed her body revelling in the sensation of being able to move once more, pushing with all her strength and being rewarded by the ice breaking apart, leaving her to stumble from the remains, cold and brittle but FREE. Already she was regenerating, the cold receding, flexibility returning to her limbs as her cells worked to help her recover. Eyes colder than the ice that had encased her snapped up, looking around the room, taking in the exits; a thick metal door and a small ventilation grille. The door was tempting; she could easily slide herself under it and punish the guards slowly, painfully, their pain was something she itched to feel. But no they could wait, a little voice in the back of her head that sounded a lot like her mother repeating a lesson often hammered into her; better to escape than waste time killing a few pawns. They could wait.
Mind made up a few elongated strides took her to the room’s ventilation grille. As she reached it her body started to change, collapsing in on itself, losing all human shape and texture, becoming a featureless blue-grey rubber ‘snake’ a half metre long and only a few centimetres wide. She easily pushed through one of the small square holes, slithering into the duct beyond. Reaching a crossroads Gemini paused for a moment, feeling in the utter blackness for a flow of fresh air, finding it the ‘snake’ began to stretch at the front, simultaneously shrinking at the back, shooting like a bullet through the ducts. After several turns an access shaft yawned in front of her, rising 50 feet to the surface with daylight showing at the top. If the snake had lips it would have smiled in satisfaction, instead it simply lifted itself up and stretched, ten, twenty fee, pushing right through the grille at the top and into the open air, the tail pulling up behind it. The armed guard on duty only had a split second to stare in confusion at the strange featureless glossy blue worm before a spike pierced neatly through his forehead, the guard dropping even as the last of the snake wriggled out of the grate.
Not lingering, the snake gathered itself, its form expanding and sprouting feathers until a hawk took to the air, it’s triumphant screech filling the air as it left the prison compound behind it, soaring into the sky and toward the distant skyscrapers of Gotham. Gemini was free.
