Subject Attributes
Meta-Human Abilities: Ollie possesses no metahuman abilities
Standard Abilities:
Skilled Archer: As his codename and costume might suggest, Green Arrow is a master of all things archery, able to shoot twenty-nine arrows per minute and jam a gun barrel with a precision shot for five hundred miles away. He has been known to utilize multiple types of bows over the years, but his most common weapon of choice today is a standard compound boy with various modifications and tweaks to compensate for different types of arrows.
Survivalist: A shipwrecked year on Lian Yu turned spoiled, self-centered playboy Oliver Queen into a powerhouse for self-preservation. He learned how to treat injuries, balance rations, hunt food and create shelter with minimal resources in order to survive the cruel nature of the island until he as finally rescued.
Peak Physique: Being forced to survive also increased Ollie's strength, stamina and resolve. He is an excellent physical specimen and on par with other nonpowered heroes like Batman. He does not fatigue quickly and he is always able to keep going after even the toughest fights.
Martial Arts: Ollie is a skilled fighter and well-versed in several forms of martial arts. His combination of ranged attacks and close quarters brawling make him an asset that cannot afford to be benched when dealing with most nonpowered criminals.
Gadgets: Trick arrows, grappling hooks and smoke bombs are a just a few of the gadgets that Ollie still makes use of in the field. However, his arsenal is far less colorful than it was early in his career. Everything has become more practical and the silly days of having an arrow for every purpose are long gone.
Politician: A stint as the mayor of Star City has given Oliver Queen some solid experience as a diplomat and politician.
Paraphernalia:
Compound Bow: An archer's bow is his best friend, and this archer is no exception.
Quiver: Each of Green Arrow's quivers can hold up to twenty-four arrows of various kinds.
Subject Weaknesses:
More Brawn, Less Brains: Ollie is not the sharpest tool in the shed, and when dealing with intellectual or cerebral super criminals he will quickly become frustrated. He is best for situations where he can just punch or blast his way through everything.
Only Human: Like many masked vigilantes, Ollie is a mere mortal and can be harmed by anything that can kill a normal person. Bombs, poison, bullets, fists, long falls, fast moving cars and blunt objects are all examples of things that can do the emerald stud in.
Civilian Identity: It is no secret that Oliver Queen is the Green Arrow, and this is something that has put a persistent target on his back. Choosing to keep his identity common knowledge is something that has put him at great risk time and time again.
Teammates: Being at the front of a team of young superheroes means that enemies can choose to target allies in order to strike at the head honcho. It doesn't help that Ollie's wife and long lost son are part of the team, also.
Subject History
The spoiled and immature heir to the Queen Industries fortune, Oliver Queen spent most of his early live as an entitled and self-indulgent playboy who did not care for anyone besides himself. After a pleasure cruise on a family ship went haywire, the brat was stranded on a desolate island for a whole year and forced to learn how to survive the brutal conditions that endured. During this time he became an expert archer, and after his rescue, with a renewed sense of purpose he donned the guise of the mighty Green Arrow and returned to America to fight criminals and defend those who were less fortunate.
After initially flying solo with his sidekick Roy Harper in Star City, he eventually attracted the attention of several Justice Leaguers and quickly became an honorary member. Early in his career, he teamed up with Batman to save a Dhabarian Prince from being assassinated by a group of his own subjects that were conspiring against him. The pair fought alongside each other again later when Poison Ivy unleashed a deadly, world-threatening plague that Ollie's lover, Dinah Lance, had been one of the first to contract.
Ollie's most notable partnership with another hero began when an encounter with Green Lantern Hal Jordan on the streets of Seattle led to him dishing out liberal lessons about poverty, class discrimination, racism and human rights. Hal was humbled by his conversation with Green Arrow, and soon the two decided to travel across the country in search of wrongs that needed to be corrected together. Hal proved to be an invaluable friend and also provided a shoulder for him to lean on when he discovered that his trusted ward Roy had been hiding an addiction to heroin in secrecy.
When Professor Zoom returned from the future and masqueraded as the dead Flash Barry Allen, Ollie was one of many Justice League members to fall for his deception and, like Hal, he foolishly believed that his old friend had returned after sacrificing himself to save the world many years before. Zoom's violent tendencies became apparent soon, and this led to a brutal battle with Hal in Coast City that left the Green Lantern badly injured. Eventually Wally West saw through the conniving murderer's plan and put a stop to his scheme by sending him back to the future witj his Uncle Barry's old Cosmic Treadmill that was on display inside the Flash Museum.
After spending some more time in the superhero life, Ollie would eventually return to Seattle where he would settle for more traditional archer weaponry once again and continue pursuit of his goal to end street level crime. While tracking a serial killer known as the Seattle Slasher, he encountered Shado, a deadly female archer who was the daughter of a disgraced Yakuza agent that had been captured during World War II. Ollie's fate quickly became entwined with this assassin later on when the duo realized that they were up against the same criminal syndicate and they quickly teamed up to overcome their opponents.
Ollie kept a lower profile for many years to come, shunning the jobs of more powerful superheroes in favor of protecting the people that he had felt flashier personalities had forgotten about. During this time he discovered that one of his old girlfriends, Sandra "Moonday" Hawke, had fostered a child of his without him ever knowing about it. This infuriated many people in his life, including Dinah, and Ollie made matters even worse by promptly denying his connection to the boy at first. Eventually, however, the two formed a bond and began to fight side by side.
Connor would eventually take up the mantle of the Green Arrow himself after his father's death at the hands of Eden Corps, a group of ruthless and amoral environmental terrorists. Ollie was resurrected almost a decade later by Hal Jordan, who had been fused and consumed by the space entity Parallax, but since some of his memories were not kept intact there were a few key events from his past that he had no awareness of. He quickly rekindles his relationships with Dinah, his sidekicks and most of the original Justice League members and begins to operate out of Star City again, rebuilding his crimefighting his syndicate with allies both old and new.
His return to life invited several new challenges, including a gallery of costumed rogues looking to take him down so that they could commit crimes in his city freely. The deadly Greek martial artist Constantine Drakon and the unfathomable assassin Onomatopoeia both tried their best to eliminate him and would live on to plague Ollie continuously as time went on. Ollie also faced off against another Batman enemy, the Riddler, who was hired by a wealthy industrialist to take the city hostage and distract authorities from his plan of stealing mystical artifacts from a museum. Other enemies from Ollie's past also resurfaced, including the Vlatavian Prince Count Vertigo, the sinister archer Merlyn and corrupted military official Edward Fryers.
After the maniacal villain Prometheus wreaked havoc on Star City and murdered Roy Harper's daughter, Ollie stalked the villain back to his lair and eliminated him with a simple arrow to the head. This caused a massive divide amongst the Justice League, and several high profile members like Hawkman were enraged by his actions. Fortunately, Hal teamed up with Barry Allen and set out to find Ollie and rope him in. The duo was promptly able to restore his sense of right and wrong and returned him to the side of justice where he still currently remains.
When the desperate battle against the Black Lantern Corps had finally ended, a white power ring caused Star City to become shrouded in a massive forest and Ollie was forced to weed out the new sources of crime and corruption that had flourished in the chaos. Presently, Ollie has been reflecting on some of the choices that he has made and trying to determine what type of crimefighter he really wants to be while spending some alone time on Lian Yu. He plans to return to Star City after this period of reflection and regroup his family as an unbreakable unit that will forever act as protectors of the innocent.
Subject Interview
There were two of them. One caucasian, the other black. One with a handgun, the other a serrated blade. They black man tore through a few shelves of the convenience store and tipped over an advertisement stand while the white man steadily aimed his weapon at the clerk behind the counter as he counted out the cash in his register sheepishly. This was the third time this Quick Stop had been robbed this month, and each time different people were the perps.
Crime in Star City had gotten out of hand. It used to endure as an iconic symbol of hope that could light the skies of the future for the rest of America, but the past year it had been plunged into a darkness that only the return of its former hero could bring a clear sky to again. Gang related violence had increased quite a bit and streets had become empty and desolate. It wasn't quite at the level that Gotham City was on after 10pm at night, but it certainly wasn't Coast City or Central City during any normal hour.
The man behind the counter finished dishing out the cash. "Good boy..." The thug with the gun giggled. "Hey Mo, let's scram!" He shuffled the piles of money into a large vinyl bag that rested on his shoulder and zipped it shut. He cocked his weapon and headed for the door while his partner snatched a candy bar from one of the aisles he hadn't turned upside down and caught up with him.
"Hey, old man Patel..." The steel of his blade glinted in the light from the fixtures above as he pointed it at the clerk menacingly. "See you again later this year? If business is good for you, maybe we'll pay you a visit again!"
"You have failed this city!"
A cloaked figure stood menacingly in the doorway of the store with a compound bow pointed at the man with the knife's arm. The man with the gun, who stood in close proximity to his partner, almost lost his balance and reached down with both arms to cover his groin area. He spilled out a large hiss of laughter before recovering his composure while the other man lowered his knife and unleashed a bellowing chuckle of a laugh that could pierce the dignity of any would-be rescuer's stride. "Is this s*** real, or what?" The clerk took cover while his two assailants taunted their confronter. "You almost made me piss myself man...what is this, a joke?"
Ollie was flustered. If he had an arrow for every time he had a dramatic entrance deflated by some cocky two-bit's ego, it would take years for him to ever run out. "Look, uh...I'm tryin' somethin' new alright...it's been a while since I've done this, why don't you cut a guy a little bit of slack on this?" The two were unwilling to cut Mr. Patel, an Indian immigrant with four kids to feed, any slack at all so it was unlikely that they'd be receptive to Ollie's pleas for patience and understanding. The bow remained pointed in the vicinity of where they stood, nonetheless.
"I think your goatee is startin' to go gray, my friend...too bad, cause I don't think they make Just For Men in that shade of cheese blonde you got goin' on there..."
The caucasian man pointed his gun forward and was about to fire when Ollie let loose the string of his bow and a bola snapped through the air and coiled around his him. Ollie pulled the lasso forward and the man flew off the ground towards him at lightning speed.
Krakkk!
Ollie roundhouse kicked the man's head so hard that one of his bicuspids flew across the room. The man was launched back into a fixture of Gatorade bottles with the bola still intact. He was clearly detained. "Free dental work is just one of the many benefits that Star City offers working class criminals...would you like to find out about more of them?"
The other thug bolted for the door and slid passed Ollie, scraping his was out into the open like a cornered rodent that was evading a predator. Ollie stepped out onto the sidewalk and drew back his bowstring again. "I'll let you go on the condition...that you tell all of your friends that I'm back..." He spoke loudly but got no response. The man's jacket flipped up and down behind him in the wind as he continued to run for his freedom. "I was just kidding anyway...I'm not Batman..." A boxing glove error sped through the wind and quickly met the end of its flight at the back of its target's head.
Ollie leaned against the doorway of the store and nodded at Mr. Patel, who had been a friend of his for quite a while. He reached for a bottle of milk on a nearby fixture and flipped some quarters over to the counter where the register sat. "You remember those old 'milk mustache' ads in the magazine...with Cal Ripken, Michael Jordan and the like? I think I would have looked damn good in one of those."
Star City's greatest defender had just stepped back onto the playing field after a year's absence. Where had he been? What had happened to him? His disappearance had been unexplained and citizens and the press alike would surely expect a lot to be answered. "Call 9-1-1 if you haven't yet, Mr. Patel...and tell the wife that I asked about her..."
