There really was not a lot known about Santa Prisca's history pre-colonization. Many of the Spaniards who came to the island made sure to systematically erase any amount of culture the natives had. Whatever did live on was past down through stories and tales, often twisting with time and the teller. No one who drew their lineage back to before the colonizers knew what parts of the stories were true anymore and what was just tall tales.
One tall tale ended up being seemingly true. A tyrant king, a man who taught himself powers that would see him rival the Gods his people held dear, attempted to overtake those very Gods and found himself cast aside and all that he built buried beneath the lands of this island. While nothing was set in stone and how much of this story was true was not certain, Bane's people unearthed signs of a long buried walled structure; a fortress so to speak. As the location had begun to be excavated, workers complained about noises and rumblings growing louder and louder as more was unearthed. Not wishing to risk his people, as many had superstitions begin to bubble to the surface, Bane called off the excavations until they could learn more. Thanks to some tech graciously given to Bane via some connections he had, he was able to get a partial ground-penetrated mock-up image of what the site actually looked like beneath the dirt. More importantly, he found what looked like an entrance.
Reaching out with more of his connections, Bane sent out a request for some help, preferably someone from his past line of work and hopefully with some magical inclination. The broker he went through assured him the best help would arrive within a few days and Bane would patiently wait.
Reached out to once more, Bane was made aware that his help would be arriving by helicopter that day. As the time approached, Bane made his way to the helipad with just a single guard, a man Bane clearly dwarfed in terms of size. Really, Bane was his own guard, but his people would not let him travel with at least one person who could watch his back.
As the helicopter approached, the unmasked man who broke the Bat stood patiently, unflinching under the scorching rays of the Sun.
